It has been quite few years since I have been on this blog. So many social media accounts to manage I guess. Though, I have not blogged, I have been busy with all my hobbies. My nature photography led into wildlife illustration when I bought an iPad Pro and an Apple Pencil. No more messy paint to deal with. I quite enjoy the detail I can get layering in sketchbook.

Painted Frida Kahlo Inspired Rocks

Whimsical Frida Angel Painting

Cute 5x7x.5 acrylic painting is up in my ETSY shop.   Cute and easy to display!  I have been going quite crazy playing with my paint markers and practicing my Fridas.  Enjoy it while it lasts, winter is probably the busiest time for me at Wonders of Whimsy.  Once spring comes I am busier with other projects.  Painting is such a great winter activity.   Go to my etsy shop here

I'm on a roll

Rock-n-rolling...pun intended.  We've been having blizzard conditions every other day....and that means spending more time indoors and in my art studio.  I cranked out almost my entire bag of rocks - only four more left!  I list most of these in my etsy shop, though to be honest I could hang onto all of them.  They are so much cuter in person.  They would look great in my little garden off my she shed...things to look forward to. <3 p="">

Painting Rocks

She's back....  Wow, it seems like forever since I have created any folk art for my Etsy shop.   Winter is a great time to paint on rocks to display in the garden come spring.  I purchased some tiny ones this time and though they are more difficult to paint on, they are super cute!  I listed a few of these in my shop and I have many more to make for my own garden.  These are all so cute, it might be hard to part with them.

Little Frida Clay Mask

Up in my ETSY SHOP CLICK HERE

I've relisted my clay masks in my ETSY shop. I have three more masks to paint from last year and then I should be finished with that project.  It feels like it is going to be a very busy and productive year for me so I am trying to get all these old projects complete so I can focus on all the new projects coming up.

Frida Rock

I listed this cute little Frida rock on ETSY click here.  She's sitting on my shelf with some of my favorite rocks that I am not selling.  I framed a few more of my original folk art paintings.  I also have been painting again.  I was really getting burnt out on social media.  40% of everyone on those sites, are not even a real person.  Facebook has become just a big ad campaign and controls everything you post with regards to who sees it.  Pretty lame!  So in order to maintain a content life, without all the politics and media brainwashing, I am spending less time focusing on it.   What you focus on grows, I think that phrase is from the Secret.  That's my mantra right now.  Do more creating and less arguing with sheep on the internet.

Skull Roses Day of Dead

Pink roses...my favorite! Now on ETSY

Scorpio Zodiac Clay Mask

Happy Friday! I managed to both paint a mask as well as sculpt two more. I made the mistake of putting her hole for the wire in front of her stinger, so I may have to add a bow to it.  But, these are turning out to be very fun to hang on the wall.

Aries Zodiac Claw Mask

Aries, the ram mask turned out cute! I feel I am done painting for today, however.  I have lots more coming this weekend as many things are coming out of the kiln.  I can't wait!  It's also getting warmer out and that means flowers and spending more time outdoors taking pictures.  But, hopefully I will make 9 more masks going into the summer.

Virgo Zodiac Mask

Yeah I finally got to paint some clay masks that I created and fired in pottery class.  I actually had a lot of fun painting on these.  There's only one more class before the summer break, so I will be trying to make a bunch of these to paint before then.  People keep encouraging me to make the entire horoscope (not just what is relevant to me personally) and if I can be creative enough I think I will try a few more.  If you want one for yourself, send me a note.  I may consider doing a specific zodiac sign first, if you request it.

WIP Horoscope Masks

These are on the high fire shelf and hopefully ready to paint by Friday, if not next week.  These are the same three horoscope signs  Virgo, Aries and Scorpio.  I made them with a face form and added clay to embellish their heads with flowers.  I had so much fun to make and have giving me many ideas for other projects in the future.  I cannot wait to paint these!!!

Painted Pottery Day Of The Dead Mask

I created this mask with a ceramic hand mold.  It was bisqued, high fired then painted with acrylic and covered with a crackle glaze.  I have two more plain masks to pain and 5 embelished with clay flowers.
