I started an oil painting the other day. A whimsical self portrait in the old master style of underpainting. Honestly, I have no idea what I am doing. Watching Youtube and learning some basics from my best friend, who is a master painter. I really like how oil paint glides on the canvas and blends very nicely. However, I am not a fan of the mess it makes, the smell it leaves behind and having to wait a whole week to continue...but, I can see the results are no doubt worth the wait. I had extra paint on my pallet, so I used my pallet knife and spread it on a couple of tiny canvases to use as a background for a painting later. It is going to be neat to look back on my first oil painting and see how far I have come. That is a good reason for this blog. I know I am not that entertaining to some. I find it tedious to have to write about my day. BORING! lol So, if anything I will just share my art and the process of learning. Thanks for visiting!
